That first week, all I could manage to do was read the lesson, do the water requirements and figure out how to work the juicer. I chose a few recipes, went to the grocery store and juiced for the first time. Everything in disarray, my counter filled with foreign green things, can’t find anything and I’m seriously looking at dumping all of it in the trash.

Because some items can not be put into a juicer.. Things like berries, avocado, and some fruits like peaches and bananas can not be put into a juice extractor.. To add those to your juice, you would have to extract your extractable produce, add the juice to a blender and then add anything like banana, strawberries or avocado.. That is why he uses both a blender and an extractor.
Unless you have been living under a rock for the last few years, you would have no doubt heard about the amazingness of juicing. But did you also know that a juice elixir can also be a healthy and safe way to lose weight? When drunk in complement to an existing weight-loss plan, juicing provides a high level of quality nutrition, which will assist in weight-loss. Read on to find out how.
In all seriousness, just because going on a pure juice cleanse isn’t the healthiest doesn’t mean you should swear off juices or juicing altogether. We’re talking about consuming more fruits and veggies, after all. So supplementing your regular balanced meals and snacks with the occasional vegetable and fruit juice can be a healthy choice. This could potentially be a “sustainable lifestyle change or strategy,” Schilling said.
Mark Beddoe says “[Juicing] continues to change my life, little by little, every day. It’s an ongoing transformation which will see me gradually return to a more youthful and healthy me.” Mark lost 42 pounds in his first 3 months of juicing.
While the carrots and beets in this blend work on your liver, the high fiber content in the spinach will repair, heal, and nourish your stomach to reduce constipation, discomfort, and unsightly bloating.
Kaz, if her goal is to go on a juice fast the blending won’t help. Please read this article on why you must use a juicer for a juice fast: http://www.justonjuice.com/can-i-use-a-blender-for-juicing/ Fiber is a no no on a juice fast as it defeats the purpose of the cleansing aspect of it and slows down the detox and weight loss aspects. A 16 ounce juice is way more nutritional than a 16 ounce blended beverage. If you are using a Nutribullet you aren’t juicing as juicing is the process of extracting only the juice. The nutribullet just blends it all together.
Pomegranate juice is great for your skin and to get back your natural glow, but it may also help in weight loss. According to Delhi-based Weight Management Expert, Dr. Gargi Sharma, “Pomegranates are rich in antioxidants, polyphenols and conjugated linolenic acid – all of which help you burn fat and boost your metabolism. juice also helps in suppressing your appetite.”
Losing weight too quickly on a low-calorie juice fast may cause you to lose more water and muscle than fat, and most likely you’ll regain that lost weight. When you restrict your caloric intake to very low levels, your metabolism slows down to conserve energy, making it harder for you to lose weight both during and after your cleanse, according to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Juice fasts may also cause you to feel weak and dizzy.
Rotate and Renew. Instead of limiting your produce juicing selections to the same few every time, rotate in new offerings based on what’s fresh and locally available at your farmers market. Incorporate a variety of colors into your juice, as each color represents a different nutrient profile.
Detox – Green juice full of chlorophyll is particularly detoxifying and can really help your liver and kidneys to flush out your system. Celebrities regularly go to such retreats to shed the pounds after an unhealthy spell. But you don’t need to spend thousands of dollars to reap the benefits of juicing. Now, everyone can do it from the comfort of their own home.
Lorraine, that’s fantastic! It’s amazing how much juicing not only changes your health but your habits, tastes, and much more. Keep at it, it only gets better over time. I’m always here if you have questions Lorraine.
Now we get to the good stuff! Here are some of my favorite juice recipes with ingredients from the cruciferous vegetables list. Remember that these veggies can be quite potent, so always dilute the juice with a variety of other produce. If you have any ailment (particularly a thyroid, kidney or gallbladder problem) speak to your doctor first, before getting into juicing. The same applies if you are pregnant, are planning a pregnancy or want to give the juice to very young children.
I subsequently lost the 30lbs and my trainer told me that he had never seen someone lose fat so fast! The key points that I’ve learned over the last 10 years are exactly what I teach you in my weight loss program and it’s what I still do today at nearly 50 years old!

Hi Donnie.. Let me start by saying that I love your site.. It’s so informative and motivating! I love that you take the time to answer everyone’s questions. I feel I’m the definition of a fat skinny girl… I’m 5’3 and 110 lbs.. I know that sounds average but I feel like my arms are very thick and my love handles make me very self conscious.. I usually eat very healthy and exercise 6-7 days a week.. 3 days hot power sculpt yoga and 3-4 days HIIT treadmill, elliptical, rowing, and sit-ups.. I’ve been working out like that for about 6 weeks now.. I feel like I build muscle very fast especially in my legs and arms.. Therefore I now have that “bulky” frame.. Like big muscles under a layer of fat making me not able to fit any of my jeans and my tops feel so tight.. I hate to work out so hard just to be getting even bigger than I was originally.. I really want to have those great sculpted arms.. I know I won’t tho until I get rid of that layer of fat.. I’m on day 3 of juicing.. I make variation of mean green 3 times daily.. So far I have not been hungry at all..I hope to go as long as I can.. I just miss the taste of yummy food. I’m trying to juice to lose that stubborn layer of fat all over my body.. I have not weighed myself at all but so far I just feel and look the same..I’ve been taking it easy and only doing the power sculpt yoga, no HIIT cardio to give my body some rest.. I know it’s much easier to lose a lot of weight when a person is “bigger”.. But me being pretty small to start with, do you think it’s even possible for me to lose 10 lbs by just juicing? I’m determined to keep juicing until I lose that layer of fat so that my muscles can actually show.. What else do you think i can be doing?
Proponents of juicing like to say that juice is more nutritious than simply consuming fruits and vegetables. But does that argument really hold up? To compare the nutrition of whole fruits and vegetables to juice, it is important to compare apples to apples (no pun intended). For accuracy, this means that one must compare them based on equal portions of weight (in grams), which is what we’ve done in the chart below. If using a juicer or blender that retains the pulp, the end result will be similar to the whole fruit. This chart is a comparison of whole fruit vs juice that does not retain the pulp.
Whether its made from fruit or vegetables, the juice you’re drinking on a cleanse contains a high amount of sugar. “That will cause your body to produce insulin faster, making your blood sugar drop,” says nutritionist Leah Kaufman MS, RD, CDN, founder of book leahkaufman.com. “This results in dizziness and feeling lightheaded.”
