Jass, thanks for your comment. It’s best to have between 4-5 juices that are between 16-20 ounces each. Make sure you are drinking only the juice that you make. No solids! I’ll be here if you have questions.

In addition, cruciferous veggies also help certain enzyme systems in your body to function optimally, further contributing to liver detoxification.  These veggies are of course also loaded with a variety of other nutrients and phytonutrients that are vital for maintaining good health in general.

If you’re fully committed to your juice cleanse, that means you’ll have had to cut out all caffeine. “Even if you normally drink only one cup a day, eliminating caffeine cold turkey may contribute to headaches, irritability, and difficulty with concentrating,” says nutritionist Amy Shapiro MS, RD, CDN, and founder of RealNutritionNYC.com. The juices you consume for weight loss aren’t the jugs of orange juice or fruit punch you pick up in the grocery store. Juicing for weight loss has you using a home juicer to press pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables and create concoctions rich in vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients. Alternatively, you may purchase cold-pressed juices at a premium price to replace meals. These natural juices contain no added sugar, preservatives, unwanted fats or excess sodium. When made mostly with green vegetables, such as kale, celery and cucumber, they are also low in calories.

For each recipe, simply put all ingredients in a high-powered blender or food processor and run until smooth, adding more water as needed. Why not a juicer? When you use a juicer, the skin and most of the fiber is stripped from the fresh produce. That is the absolute last thing you want for weight loss, since fiber helps you feel full with fewer calories. In addition, fiber helps slow the rise in blood glucose after eating, which may also help support weight loss. This is especially important for fruit-based juices. Fruits contain a lot of natural sugars, and drinking juice with all the fiber taken out isn’t all that much better than drinking soda. Finally, the antioxidants of many fruits are concentrated in the skins. As long as the skin is edible, it’s better to blend the whole thing up and make sure you get every last bit of nutrition.
