I have been juicing for 8 weeks now. I did the 7lbs in 7 days to start and lost 11lbs and have continued with the turbo boost for the rest of the time. I have so far lost 30lbs and people tell me I look 10 years younger and I feel amazing! This has truly changed my life and approach to eating. Many thanks!
I just started today! I’d love to get the same results you did; any tips? I’ve been planning to do the 2-week plan but am really tempted to do longer depending on how I do the first two weeks. Do you have before/after pictures?
The “Morning Glory” recipe isn’t just a fantastic way to lose weight, it can also lower your cholesterol. A study conducted at the Wolfson Gastrointestinal lab in Edinburgh found that consuming seven ounces of raw carrot a day can reduce cholesterol levels by 11%.
this is my third time on a juice fast. I was reading some of the comments and noticed I was doing some things wrong. I have been drinking coffee and home brewed teas with artificially sweeteners and have eaten a couple pieces of fruit. th is time I started off weighing 254 lost 12lbs in the first week and have since only lost 3 in the last 4 days. that’s 15 lbs in 11 days . I need to lose another 45 lbs. I’m exercising s few times a week. if I cut out the caffeine and the occasional fruit how long of a juice fast do you think it would take me to lose that much weight?
It is also handy to know that green juices taste great! You can make your juice really flavorful by adding in lemon, mint or ginger to really add a tasty punch to your juice. You will enjoy the flavors of the juice so much that you will choose to make a juice rather than eat another less healthy snack food. It is also worth noting that juice you make at home on your own is a much better option than that which is store bought. Fresh juice made with a base of vegetables is going to contain much more nutrition than the kind that comes from a carton. Even fresh, store-bought juices will often have sugars and other additives as well as preservatives added to the juice. This kind of juice means you are drinking a lot of unnecessary calories. On the other hand, a homemade vegetable and fruit juice delivers nothing but goodness that is healthy fuel for your body.
“Alli promotes weight loss by decreasing absorption of fat by the intestines, which reduces the number of calories you absorb.” This might work in moderation with an unhealthy diet if you maintain bad eating habits. If you take this while on a juice fast it’s completely pointless as you’re not digesting anything nor are you eating anywhere near the amount of fats to make it worthwhile.
Just do as much reading as you can Ali, read every here at JOJ that you can and you’ll have a great understanding of what a juice fast is, how it works, and how to do it! Let me know if you have any questions Ali.
Hi I just started. I have 120oz juice fod breakfast, and lunch and a protein shake with frozen fruit, almond milk, and chia seeds for dinner. I do snack on nuts and raisins. Will I lose weight? I haven’t weighed yet lol. Great site by the way!
Turn Yucky into Yummy. Juicing can be a way to incorporate produce that you normally might not eat due to flavor or texture issues. Beets, kale, and spinach tend to be less noticeable when combined with the flavors of fruits and berries, so experiment by combining your least favorite produce items in different flavor combinations.
Great advice, thanks. I am on day two of my 30 day adventure or maybe 60 days depending on the results. I am 72 in. Tall starting at 255 lbs at about 20% body fat. I am in the military so I’m am getting really close to busting tape (going over my allotted bmi) my question is, what extra precautions should I use to avoid losing too much muscle as well as have sufficient energy for my rigorous pt every morning is adding some kind of protein allowed? At the same time I want to lose about 40-50 lbs during the next 60 days, with my current fast and exercise is that a plausible goal?
Buy a juicer. The essential tool for following a juice-based diet is a juicer. You can purchase either a cold press juicer (also known as an Auger-style juicer) or a juice extractor. Juicers can vary widely in price (anywhere from $50 to over $400) and come in a variety of sizes.
There are a lot of reasons we gain weight. The most common is from consuming more calories than we burn. Many of these are usually nutrient-poor calories. The effect of poor diet choices is that it starts a domino effect. It goes something like this: Stress, rushing to eat, grab convenience foods that are non-nutritious, still hungry because body didn’t actually get any nutrients, eat more. Poor digestion, poor elimination, no time for exercise, poor sleep, hormone imbalance, skin problems, medication, side-effects of medication, diminished capacity (both physically and mentally), and so on. Next thing you know you’re getting your gall bladder removed or the lap band procedure or some other extreme management of symptoms, none of which have solved the problem. There is also the possibility of undiagnosed food intolerance, which could be playing a role. Other signs of this would be new allergies and lowered immunity. Hormonal imbalance is a probability in overweight people, again often due to their diet. Toxic buildup from food, the environment, medicines, personal care products, unfiltered water, and bad habits like soda all contribute to an unbalanced and unhealthy body. No matter what your situation is, juicing is likely a great way to start getting back on track.
It is possible to have an allergic reaction to pomegranate juice, MedlinePlus warns, particularly if you are allergic to other types of plants. The juice can interfere with some medications, so check with your doctor if you are taking any medicine. Although pomegranate juice is possibly safe to consume if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, MedlinePlus adds, talk to your doctor first to make sure.
Saw the documentary “Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead) and both Hubby and myself decided to try a 60 day fast. Our goal is wt loss (both have 50+ to lose), help hypertension, high cholesterol. We are on day 9 of our fast. Our b/p are both excellent. Hubby has lost 12 pounds and I have lost 6 pounds. He is drinking 5 (16ox drinks) and me 4 (16ozdrinks) per day plus water and one morning pure coconut juice. My question is that he continues to loose each day. I have stayed the same 3 days in a row and yesterday gained .8 pound. Am I doing something wrong? I have not had anything else but what is mentioned here. We have done about the same activity level. I was wondering since he is 6 ft 1 inch and I am 5 ft 1, should I be drinking less juice? We are drinking 80 % vegetable to 20% fruit. Thank you.

Tangy, sweet, and brimming with ways to slim down your waistline – what more could you possibly ask for? This delicious cleanse generally ends up more like a smoothie than a juice, but you’ll still get plenty of fat-fighting benefits, from energy-boosting pears and beetroots, to anti-inflammatory effects.
Daniel, if you juiced in the morning and then kept your meals limited to fresh fruits and veggies you should do fine. It’s also okay to include a lean protein such as a chicken breast or lean beef in one of your meals. You’ll still go through detox and lose weight, just at a slower pace. Happy New Year to you too! Keep me posted on how things go. Cheers!
If you are looking for a juice cleanse recipe that is also low in sugar or if you are juicing for weightloss, here is recipe that should do the trick for you. The cucumber and celery are low in sugar and calories and great for helping to draw out toxins. The lime in…
Fresh juices should not be confused with smoothies, which are usually made in a blender, food processor, or high-powered juicer and include the fibrous pulp of the fruit and vegetable ingredients (and can often contain a blend of fruit, vegetables, juice, dairy and other ingredients).
I am on the end of day 3 of a 30 day juice fast. Been following your recipes and tried one of my own, it isn’t going too badly. I didn’t eat at all Day 1 (I drive all day at my job, so bathroom trips are prized occurrences). Question 1: Since I didn’t eat day one, is my body still on detox day 3? Question 2: I am 5’10”, 170lbs. Can I expect to lose about 20lbs? How much do you think I will gain back after if I continue doing paleo or raw afterwards? Question 3: Are Granny Smith apples better nutritionally? I have read they are easier on the juicer, but they are also more expensive! This blog is really helping me, I appreciate this site so much!
I’ve been stalking your website for the past 2 months. Your website has given me a lot of inspiration. I finally went and bought a juicer yesterday. I will be starting my first 10 day juice fast on 10/10/13. I had my thyroid removed in 2009 and have been battling with my weight since then. I’m tired and feeling bad about myself. I am looking forward to getting my life back. I can do this!
But will I gain it all back once I stop juicing? If you go straight back to your old eating habits you probably will gain some weight back. Most juicers I have talked to have not gained that weight back. When you juice for an extended period of time your appetite will diminish and you will not be able to eat as much as you used to. Once you decide to stop juicing and go back to solids there are ways to do it correctly. The majority of your diet should contain at least 80% raw vegetables and fruit. You will still need to watch what you eat and not gorge yourself on heavy foods. Losing weight is easy if you stick to juicing for a few weeks. Give it try and give me some feedback on your experience with juicing. I hope you enjoyed reading how to lose weight by juicing. I’d love to hear your feedback.
Sandra, a vitamix will not work. You need to have a juicer. Any type of blender will not work as they do not separate the fiber and pulp out of the produce. Read through the juicing FAQ ( http://www.justonjuice.com/juicing-faq ) as it highlights a lot of the questions you may have. I’ll be here if you still have questions. Keep me posted.
Although home-pressed juices provide lots of goodness, consuming these exclusively as a juice fast in an attempt to lose weight can have unwanted consequences. Juices lack certain essential nutrients, namely protein and healthy fats. Protein is critical in helping you maintain muscle mass as you drop pounds, while both protein and fat help give you a sense of fullness after a meal. All the pulp you see left over in the trash compartment of your juicer is the fiber your body is missing out on when you consume juices. Fiber also plays a role in making you feel full and combats bloating and constipation. Many juice-only diets are very low in calories, which stalls your metabolism, leads to fatigue, may result in headaches and dizziness, and makes you irritable. If you muster the resolve to stick to a juice fast for more than a few days, most of the weight you lose will be water and muscle — not fat.
Although I’ve been juicing for some time, I haven’t done a weight loss attempt through just juicing with no solid foods. I’m going to try, though, once I get another juicer to keep at home so I can bring my older juicer to my shop. Having fresh juice for lunch will really help. Right now I just have a centrifugal juicer so if I make it before work, I can’t really keep it fresh until lunchtime.
If you do use juice to augment your weight-loss plan, realize that calories from juice can add up quickly if you include a lot of fruit in your mix. The sugars in the fruit also spike your insulin levels, leading to energy swings and inhibiting weight loss. Some weight-loss juice plans are too low in calories, so you won’t have the energy for exercise and daily chores that burn calories. You may not be consuming a lot of calories, but without ample daily activity, you aren’t burning a lot either. As a result, you may not be creating a very large calorie deficit, and your weight loss slows down. Furthermore, if you get out of the habit of daily exercise, it’s that much harder to add it back in once you return to eating regular food. The result may be a sudden return of any pounds lost. A weight-loss plan that creates a deficit through moderate calorie reduction and increased calorie burning with exercise is more sustainable for the long term.
This type of juicer is one of the most common varieties you’ll find on the market. A fast juicer (or centrifugal juicer) grinds your fruits and veggies and then pushes the extracted juice through a strainer by spinning at a very high speed. The pulp is extracted and ejected into a special compartment, usually near the back of the juicer. This type of juicer produces pulp-free juice very quickly, but it also tends to extract less juice than other types of juicers. This type of juicer also generates more heat than other types, which some experts say could compromise the nutrients in the produce.
That’s fantastic Suemcr! Congrats on all of your success! I bet you feel a hundred times better as opposed to before your fast! It’s amazing how much of a difference healthy eating can make. I wish you all the best!
Let’s be honest – sometimes we all need to purge our bodies of the toxins we’re exposed to daily, and refresh our systems with something new. The “Beet Nik” blend is designed to banish all of the debris blocking up your system by cleaning your digestive tract and cleansing your liver for quicker, easier fat metabolism.
According to the MedlinePlus website, pomegranate juice has been used to treat obesity and help with weight loss. However, there is insufficient evidence that pomegranate juice helps directly with weight loss, and MedlinePlus indicates that more research in the area is needed. Pomegranates are loaded with antioxidants and polyphenols, and researchers believe that it is these compounds that are responsible for pomegranate’s anti-obesity effects, according to the June 2012 issue of “Nutrition.”
The reason juicing helped me was largely because I was consuming a whole lot of empty calories and I felt unsatisfied all of the time. In a state of being un-satisfied I did what anyone would do in my situation and I ate more. So much more in fact that it didn’t matter how long I would work out in the gym my body remained the same.
Juice the apples, cucumber, celery and spinach. Pour into blender, then add ice and Beyond Greens. Blend for about 1 minute or until smooth. If you use mixed green leaves instead of Beyond Greens, simply juice these along with the other ingredients and then add the ice.
Use your alarm function on your cell phone to remind yourself to juice! Use the alarm to remind yourself when to eat and when to juice! Don’t wait until you are thirty or hungry. Preparation is your key to success!
A cup of it has 171mg of potassium, 30mg of calcium, 145mcg of vitamin K and 2813 IUs of vitamin A. I didn’t include the calorie content because we’re juicing this so you’re taking fiber out of the picture.
