LeeLee, while I’m not a doctor like Ron Kennedy, I’ve talked with plenty of medical professionals on the topic of colon cleanses during your juice fast. It’s really up to you if you want to do it as I find some say it’s not necessary while others say you should. I’ve never done it but it’s not going to hurt your fast if you do choose to do it. So it’s really your decision.
If you’re fully committed to your juice cleanse, that means you’ll have had to cut out all caffeine. “Even if you normally drink only one cup a day, eliminating caffeine cold turkey may contribute to headaches, irritability, and difficulty with concentrating,” says nutritionist Amy Shapiro MS, RD, CDN, and founder of RealNutritionNYC.com. Even if you think you’ll have a different sort of energy from your juice, What Happens to Your Body When You Drink Coffee is a different experience.

You can however use a blender to make smoothies and you’ll still get the detoxifying and nutritional benefits. You’ll go through detox and lose weight slower but it will still work depending on what your goals are. Just make sure you have a blend when you feel hungry and don’t over eat. Cheers!
today is day 2 of 14 for me. yesterday went pretty good. I dont have a juicer so i bought Naked Juice and Bolthouse Farms. Are these good choices for my juice fast? I weigh 185 lbs. Lets see how much I lose in just 2 weeks!
Teresa, don’t focus on matching your husbands weight loss. The weight loss will happen at different frequencies and different spurts for everyone. Make sure you are weighing yourself first thing in the morning after you use the restroom and before you have a juice. Weigh yourself at the same time every day. Your weight will fluctuate throughout the day as you drink and use the restroom. You are doing fine Teresa, just hang in there and don’t focus on the numbers on the scale. Scales have a habit of lying and deceiving us. Focus on how you feel and how your clothes fit. You’ll find that is a much easier way to tell if you are losing weight and feeling better. Stay strong! Keep me posted on your progress Teresa! Cheers!
The “Morning Glory” recipe isn’t just a fantastic way to lose weight, it can also lower your cholesterol. A study conducted at the Wolfson Gastrointestinal lab in Edinburgh found that consuming seven ounces of raw carrot a day can reduce cholesterol levels by 11%.
Hey there! I read your comment and thought I could help you out a bit. I have been juicing for about a year or so now. I started off with certain vegetables and fruits that appealed the most to me. I personally really love beets, carrots, celery, cucumbers, kale, spinach, oranges, lemons, grapefruits, tomatoes, and fennel. When juicing you have to make sure that your equipment is geared to handle juicing certain fruits and vegetables. From reading your comment, it looks like you are good to go! I drink my fruit bearing drinks in the morning. I keep my natural sugars out after about 11 am. I typically blend together 12 carrots, 1 lemon, 1 green apple, 1 large beet, and 2 oranges. I happen to really enjoy the taste of beets, so I typically drink this drink early in the morning, followed by 32 oz of water. Keeping regular with your drinking and continuing to exercise helps drastically. You also should not be consuming any alcohol or other beverages at this time. If you want to truly detox and find true health and meet your goals you have to stay on the plan. Also, when you start juicing make sure you work with vegetables you happen to enjoy, it makes it so much easier to maintain and continue with your goals when you actually enjoy what you are drinking. I love spicy drinks as well, adding fennel and arugula to mine work wonders. I hope this helps!
These days our environment simply isn’t as wholesome as it used to be. This applies to factors such as our water, the air we breathe, the everyday-foods we ingest, chemicals used in our places of work and even the preservatives used in make-up. Most of us are aware that we are exposed to all kinds of toxic substances and pollution. But how many of us realize that some of these toxins not only affect our health in general, but can really play havoc with our metabolism and our efforts to lose weight?
Though this recipe once again calls for the liver-cleansing powers of beetroot, you’ve probably noticed that its focus is those delicious orange vegetables – carrots. This recipe is perfect for those moments when you’re feeling sluggish, bloated, and a little squishier around the mid-section.
Hi Donnie, my boyfriend and I will start juicing tomorrow morning. We have been really excited to start right after the holidays. I was reading other posts on this site and was surprised to hear how many people are starting on Monday. We choose Saturday because we are off work for the weekend and are prepared for the detox and possible irritable affects….. We have a 2 yr old son and I have always been pro organic when it comes to his food, but not mine, that is until my boyfriend saw the documentary Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead on Netflix. He started trying your juicing recipes the next day. He is tall, thin and is great shape, so I was surprised to learn of his new-found passion for organic juicing. I myself am short and fat (256 lbs), worst shape of my life. I was athletic until I had our son. I’m so excited we found this! And thank you for all the great recipes and advice. My goal is to be under 200lbs by Memorial Day! I plan on juicing for 30 days!
All you hear is,”start a juice cleanse”, or just “drink juice”, but do you know how much juice to drink daily? What about what to do at the end of your juice cleanse? No one tells you these things because they don’t know, or worse… they give you the wrong answer.
Figure out how many meals you’re replacing with juice or how much juice you’d like to consume each day. You’ll find some diets recommend consuming a certain amount of juice throughout the day. For example, 1-2 servings of a “green” or vegetable based juice.
Judy has currently lost 48 pounds. “When I first started the program, I was overwhelmed. The reading, all those vegetables, what goes with what, opening the overstuffed refrigerator to see the jungle of veggies fall out all over the floor. How much to buy, what’s in each bag, where’s the bag of cilantro, where’s the bag of kale, where’s the celery… Others in the group were efficient and organized, up for the challenge of the three-day juice fast, ready to tackle the moon and back.
There are several benefits to juicing like it aids in better digestion, it helps to improve your overall mood, it strengthens your immune system, it helps to slow the aging process, you will also notice healthier skin, nails, and hair, juicing is a great energy and mind booster. Personally, I juice green vegetables with apples 3x per week and it does work.
Limit the amount of time you spend drinking only liquids. All liquid or juice diets or cleanses are not meant to be followed long-term. Don’t follow plans that recommend consuming only juice or liquids for more than a few days.

Morgan, I would recommend you hold off on a full juice fast until after your pregnancy due to the fact that toxins are released into your bloodstream and that can affect your baby. You should ask your doctor for his/her opinion though. I’m here if you have questions.
Ashley, when you work out, you are ripping and damaging your muscles. They start to rebuild immediately when you give them the nutrients to do so. It’s helpful to add more spinach/kale/romaine to your juices directly after you work out. Have a juice right when you finish to help the process.
The celery and orange in your “Wingman” blend will help to maintain a youthful vibrancy in your skin thanks to a healthy dose of vitamin C, while the lemon juice simultaneously battles to burn away fat and cure skin-problems with its inherent antiseptic properties. Remember,
Juice all the ingredients. If you have a Philips whole-fruit juicer, all you need to do is place one whole apple in the chute followed by all the other ingredients, finishing off with the other apple.

If you want to add exercise, get familiar with your body. Cardio only loses weight while you do it, and weight lifting can burn calories for hours after working out. With this in mind, I lift weights on a circuit at the recreation center for about an hour, you don’t have to lift real heavy but try to push yourself a little. Now your body is burning calories and storing necessities into your muscles, go get on the treadmill or bicycle and you will burn calories at twice the speed during cardio.
Consult with your doctor or a registered dietitian. Speaking to your doctor prior to starting any new diet regimen is a smart idea. They may be able to provide you with additional guidance or recommend alternatives that might be more appropriate for your health. A registered dietitian is a nutrition expert that may give you a more effective diet for weight loss.
Many juice cleanses limit you to around 1,000 calories a day (or less). When people limit their calories, “they tend to start feeling a little bit weaker,” Buse says. Low calorie-intake can also make you feel irritable, Leslie Schilling, RDN, LDN, Memphis-based dietitian and owner of Schilling Nutrition Therapy, LLC, and yoursuppersolution.com, told BuzzFeed Life in an email.
You can find no known unwanted effects to juice diets. Once the body consumes it every day, most of its nutritional needs are met. Plus, it gets the rest of the benefits too. Hence, you obtain plenty of value in a single juice each day than by cooking and eating exactly the same ingredients.
