You could exercise day and night, feeding your muscles with nothing but water and lemon juice, but that’s only going to take you so far. Why not try a scientifically-proven, and delicious alternative instead?

Juicing is no healthier than eating whole fruits and vegetables.  When comparing gram weights, juice is not more nutritious than the whole produce. In fact, it is often lower in many nutrients, and the beneficial fiber is near zero. Contrary to some claims, your body does not absorb the nutrients better in juice form.

In a word, no. Juice will not cleanse your body. There is no scientific evidence showing that ingredients in juices help to eliminate toxins.  In fact, your body is well-equipped with its own detoxing systems (including the circulatory, respiratory and digestive systems).  To keep your organs functioning at peak performance, a balanced diet consisting of minimally-processed, nutrient-dense foods is needed. The body cannot survive on the nutrients in fruits and vegetables (or their juice) alone.  Therefore, a juicing cleanse may actually be preventing the body from functioning optimally. In addition, healthy adults have no reason to give the gut a rest from fiber intake.  In fact, for optimal function and overall health, it is best to consume nutrient-dense, fiber-rich foods every day. Juicing for weight loss has such a wealth of body benefits that it is fast replacing water detox regimens.  If a healthy diet and nutrition program is uppermost on your list of priorities, you will soon discover that juicing for weight loss is the optimal option.

Exel, I’m sorry for the late response. While it’s okay to work out while juicing, it’s best to let your body rest and recover during the first few days of your fast. Get adjusted to the juice and then take your workouts slow. Don’t push yourself too hard and listen to your body. You’ll do great! Keep me posted!

The bottom line? When enjoyed in moderation, fresh-squeezed juice is a tasty way to obtain vitamins and minerals in liquid form. However, the best way to lose weight and promote optimal health is to eat a well-balanced diet that comprises all of the food groups.

Okay, I’ll be honest – this isn’t a juice blend for the faint-hearted. However, if you’re the kind of person who likes a kick in your drinks, and you’re not too sensitive to heat, this spicy drink is the perfect blend of delicious vegetables and citrus-tang.

Detox – Green juice full of chlorophyll is particularly detoxifying and can really help your liver and kidneys to flush out your system. Celebrities regularly go to such retreats to shed the pounds after an unhealthy spell. But you don’t need to spend thousands of dollars to reap the benefits of juicing. Now, everyone can do it from the comfort of their own home.

Teresa, don’t focus on matching your husbands weight loss. The weight loss will happen at different frequencies and different spurts for everyone. Make sure you are weighing yourself first thing in the morning after you use the restroom and before you have a juice. Weigh yourself at the same time every day. Your weight will fluctuate throughout the day as you drink and use the restroom. You are doing fine Teresa, just hang in there and don’t focus on the numbers on the scale. Scales have a habit of lying and deceiving us. Focus on how you feel and how your clothes fit. You’ll find that is a much easier way to tell if you are losing weight and feeling better. Stay strong! Keep me posted on your progress Teresa! Cheers!

Surprisingly, watermelons are not just a refreshingly sweet, thirst quenching fruit, but are actually abundant in nutritional benefits, from vitamins and minerals to phytonutrients. They’re rich in vitamins A, C and B-complex compounds such as thiamin, riboflavin and pyridoxine. Watermelons afford a wealth of beta-carotenes, as well as folate, pantothenic acid, the amino acid citrulline and antioxidants lycopene, cryptoxanthin, lutein and zeaxanthin. They also contain anti-inflammatory phenolic compounds, which include both lycopene and tripterpenoid. They’re plentiful in the minerals potassium, manganese, magnesium, phosphorus and copper, with trace amounts of selenium, iron and even calcium. The seeds of the fruit offer a wealth of nutrients as well, and should not be overlooked! Because watermelon is so nutrient rich, it’s a great juice for fasting, cleansing and weight loss

Fresh juices should not be confused with smoothies, which are usually made in a blender, food processor, or high-powered juicer and include the fibrous pulp of the fruit and vegetable ingredients (and can often contain a blend of fruit, vegetables, juice, dairy and other ingredients).

Saw the documentary “Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead) and both Hubby and myself decided to try a 60 day fast. Our goal is wt loss (both have 50+ to lose), help hypertension, high cholesterol. We are on day 9 of our fast. Our b/p are both excellent. Hubby has lost 12 pounds and I have lost 6 pounds. He is drinking 5 (16ox drinks) and me 4 (16ozdrinks) per day plus water and one morning pure coconut juice. My question is that he continues to loose each day. I have stayed the same 3 days in a row and yesterday gained .8 pound. Am I doing something wrong? I have not had anything else but what is mentioned here. We have done about the same activity level. I was wondering since he is 6 ft 1 inch and I am 5 ft 1, should I be drinking less juice? We are drinking 80 % vegetable to 20% fruit. Thank you.

This link is very helpful to me. The combination of fruits and vegetables are tasteful & encouraging. My exercise regime is walking 3 miles 3 times a week. Spinning 2 times a week. My plan is to loose 30 lbs. I will be reading this website for continuous encouragement & chats.

Lesson 6 is about improving the quality of your sleep. As you may already know if you can’t sleep well, losing weight is difficult. When you don’t get enough quality sleep, your hormones that promote hunger and cravings go up and your appetite control hormones go down.

Welcome to JOJ Jolanta! Congrats on getting ready to start your juice fast Wednesday! Don’t be scared, not everybody experiences bad detox symptoms. Most people experience very little as far as bad symptoms. My worst symptom was a slight headache going into day 3 and that was fixed with some ibuprofen. Keep me posted. I wish you all the best! Cheers Jolanta!

  1. Hi I just started. I have 120oz juice fod breakfast, and lunch and a protein shake with frozen fruit, almond milk, and chia seeds for dinner. I do snack on nuts and raisins. Will I lose weight? I haven’t weighed yet lol. Great site by the way!
I haven been hungry at all, all I cut was sugar and no fried food and yes to lots of vegetables and fruits, I did a few meals instead of salad I did mean green but never every day or all mealsi want to try to do it .
I noticed one of the juices for the juicing cleanse has tomatoes in it, which I love, but have truly found trigger inflammation badly for me. Is it ok to substitute this whole recipe with one of the others? Also I’m supposed to avoid citrus fruits until I’m in remission. Will it alter the results if I leave out the orange, lemon or lime?
I work 12 hour shifts 7a-7p at least three times a week. What would be the best way for me to do a juicing diet with my crazy hours. I read somewhere else that the juice should be dranked immediately after making it. My juicer is to big to take to work, do you know of any small portable juicers? Thanks in advance.
