This is less about the juice cleanse and more about what can happen when you go vegan. “Switching to an organic, plant-based diet allows cells to work optimally to re-establish efficient internal messaging and manufacturing processes,” says Merrell. “This allows the mitochondria to create energy without having to fight off a plethora of free radicals and inflammation, and reduces some of the impediments to proper DNA functioning.”
Laura, it’s perfectly fine to add an apple to each juice in the morning. The 20/80 rule applies to each individual juice. So adding an apple to each juice is just fine. You should include a little fruit in each juice, just make sure not to over do it by making juices that are mostly fruit. Also, you have to take into consideration your goal for juicing. If your goal is to lose weight then you should limit your fruits to the 20/80 rule. Fruits are great for you, but they do contain a lot of sugar. So limiting that sugar will help you to lose that weight.
As summer approaches it’s important to feel your best, It’ time to finally get the body you want and deserve. Let’s talk about how you can go from average to awesome in the next 60 days before summer comes.
Juicing is the process of extracting the juice from fresh fruits and vegetables. A small kitchen appliance known as a juicer is used to extract the juice, and these can range in price from $50-$500. Drinking the juice of fruits and vegetables means consuming their water and much of their vitamin and mineral content; however, the pulp, or fiber, which also has many health benefits, is removed. (Note: Some high-powered juicers do retain most of the pulp in the juice, thus resulting in a thicker juice.)
Hi, I was wondering if watermellon is the one fruit that can be eaten? My mom doesn’t want me to just juice, but I’m wanting to loose at least 15-20 lbs. So to apease her and eat something, is watermellon ok? Thanks!!
Selena, it’s okay to drink green tea but you should make sure it’s decaf. Green tea has a high caffeine content and you should avoid caffeine while on your juice fast. If you can’t get decaf, limit yourself to 1-2 cups in the morning or around lunch time and you’ll be okay. I’ll be here if you have questions.
I’ve seen people juice as long as 80 days. Andy juiced 80 days. You can usually find him on the forums. He’s got a great wealth of knowledge and understanding of juice fasting. I’m always here if you have questions Stuart. Cheers!
Any reducing program should not only be able to take inches and pounds off, but also be able to supply the body with the necessary nutrients to keep in good health during and after. Juicing fills this requirement.
I will keep checking back through my fast for inspiration. I am not going to lie and say it’s easy. I live with people that will not go without food so I am constantly dealing with that.:( oh well I know that it can be a struggle but I can do this I just take long walks during their dinner time.
Some medications interact with certain fruit juices. Always talk to your doctor prior to starting any juicing program to make sure it’s safe and appropriate for you to consume a variety of juices.
Farheen, make sure you peel the mango and they should juice just fine. You can exercise if you like just don’t push yourself too much. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water and plenty of juice and the weight will go.

I’ve answered thousands of emails (you may be one of them), and there’s one thing that’s common among all of you – you’ve been misguided by an “expert” or a blog and you’re begging for an “all-in-one” guide on juicing for weight loss from a real juicing expert.
Saw the documentary “Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead) and both Hubby and myself decided to try a 60 day fast. Our goal is wt loss (both have 50+ to lose), help hypertension, high cholesterol. We are on day 9 of our fast. Our b/p are both excellent. Hubby has lost 12 pounds and I have lost 6 pounds. He is drinking 5 (16ox drinks) and me 4 (16ozdrinks) per day plus water and one morning pure coconut juice. My question is that he continues to loose each day. I have stayed the same 3 days in a row and yesterday gained .8 pound. Am I doing something wrong? I have not had anything else but what is mentioned here. We have done about the same activity level. I was wondering since he is 6 ft 1 inch and I am 5 ft 1, should I be drinking less juice? We are drinking 80 % vegetable to 20% fruit. Thank you.
Surprisingly, watermelons are not just a refreshingly sweet, thirst quenching fruit, but are actually abundant in nutritional benefits, from vitamins and minerals to phytonutrients. They’re rich in vitamins A, C and B-complex compounds such as thiamin, riboflavin and pyridoxine. Watermelons afford a wealth of beta-carotenes, as well as folate, pantothenic acid, the amino acid citrulline and antioxidants lycopene, cryptoxanthin, lutein and zeaxanthin. They also contain anti-inflammatory phenolic compounds, which include both lycopene and tripterpenoid. They’re plentiful in the minerals potassium, manganese, magnesium, phosphorus and copper, with trace amounts of selenium, iron and even calcium. The seeds of the fruit offer a wealth of nutrients as well, and should not be overlooked! Because watermelon is so nutrient rich, it’s a great juice for fasting, cleansing and weight loss
When consuming only fruits and vegetables via a juice cleanse, there is a decrease in the amount of calories being consumed regularly. “The body requires enough calories to be used as energy for normal body functions,” says Jim White RD, ACSM, owner of Jim White Fitness & Nutrition Studios. “Without enough calories and energy, you could feel weak, have headaches, or have low energy.”
