I am starting my juice fast on Monday 6th jan. I have a chronic condition like Joe called Chronic Urticaria. Only my condition is triggered by cold temperatures. (Cold Urticaria). I have been looking for answers to help with my condition and Fat sick and Nearly dead film has inspired me to give this a go.
I have been juicing on and off for several months now, I also exercise at least an hour on three days of the week, I don’t think that the exercise is required, but it just feels right. I lose weight almost immediately, I can see the difference as soon as the next morning. This is a challenging thing to do, but well worth it, I fight weight on a constant, it is no fun. My experience so far is that you have to limit the amount of sugary fruits, your body is just turning them into fat.
If you do use juice to augment your weight-loss plan, realize that calories from juice can add up quickly if you include a lot of fruit in your mix. The sugars in the fruit also spike your insulin levels, leading to energy swings and inhibiting weight loss. Some weight-loss juice plans are too low in calories, so you won’t have the energy for exercise and daily chores that burn calories. You may not be consuming a lot of calories, but without ample daily activity, you aren’t burning a lot either. As a result, you may not be creating a very large calorie deficit, and your weight loss slows down. Furthermore, if you get out of the habit of daily exercise, it’s that much harder to add it back in once you return to eating regular food. The result may be a sudden return of any pounds lost. A weight-loss plan that creates a deficit through moderate calorie reduction and increased calorie burning with exercise is more sustainable for the long term.

I am coming close to the end of my 14 day fast. I have lost 12 pounds at this point on day 10 but my goal is to lose a total of 30-40 pounds. I have really been wanting to eat solid food for the last couple of days and am looking forward to eating again. I am planning on eating for about a week or 10 days and then starting a 7 day juice fast and then eating for a few days and then doing a 7 day juice fast and so on and so forth until I reach my goal weight. Do you think my body will respond in this manner of fasting then eating then fasting? If it makes more sense to do another 14 day fast after I eat solids for a week or so then I guess I would give that a try again but after the end of day 9 it started getting difficult for me and I am cranky at my husband every time he eats. Radhika, thanks for your comment. I’ll do my best to help you through your fast and get you ready for your wedding. It’s important that you stick to the fast and only have the juices that you make. No solids including salads.
