When you drink a glass of freshly made vegetable or green juice, you are loading every cell of your body with detoxifying minerals. By drinking your veggies and fruit, you are giving your body all the amazing nutrients that it needs to heal, stay healthy, and reduce the risk of illness. In turn, you will also find that you experience a reduction in cravings, particularly for sweets or processed foods. This is because you are feeding your body all that it needs. Your body won’t be sending messages to your brain that make you crave particular foods that contain certain minerals or vitamins that you might otherwise lacking. It is in this way that you will start to lose weight, often quite quickly. You simply won’t be eating the bad foods that make you gain weight, and you won’t feel like you are even depriving yourself of these foods like you might if dieting.
An Auger-style or cold press juicer are typically more expensive. They work by slowly crushing and mashing fruits and vegetables to extract the juice. The advantages of this style of juicer is that they typically leave behind more pulp in the juice. The pulp is from the skin and other fibrous parts of the fruit or vegetable and can add a little boost of fiber to your juices. The down side of these juicers is that they can easily get jammed with tougher fruits or vegetables.
“Every year I go with my husband to a very formal event for his work. I spend weeks finding just the right dress – gotta try to hide all the bulges! It’s fun to be Cinderella for a night, but hard to get all dressed up and feel good knowing my “bingo wings” are flopping in the breeze every time I move! This year it seemed all the dresses I could find were strapless, which would be tragic on me. Every year I tell myself I won’t be fat next year when I go to the ball, but it always sneaks up on me. I end up heavier than the year before.
In all seriousness, just because going on a pure juice cleanse isn’t the healthiest doesn’t mean you should swear off juices or juicing altogether. We’re talking about consuming more fruits and veggies, after all. So supplementing your regular balanced meals and snacks with the occasional vegetable and fruit juice can be a healthy choice. This could potentially be a “sustainable lifestyle change or strategy,” Schilling said.

I was inspired to do something after a trip to the doctor to have a check up on my thyroid. I knew I’d put weight on, and thought maybe my thyroid had finally gotten to the stage where it needed medication (I have Hashimoto’s disease)**. Blood tests revealed that whilst my thyroid was still ok, my cholesterol was high for the first time in my life – 6, with my LDL at 3.6. Added to that, the scales revealed my weight was well above what I had ever been before, apart from when I was pregnant around 20 years earlier. Many of my clothes had been relegated to the back of the wardrobe, as they didn’t fit me anymore. Feeling quite depressed and helpless as I left the doctor’s, I happened to find Joe’s documentary, Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead, on TV that same weekend. Watching it, I laughed, I cried, and I became hugely motivated to try it myself. I began my own Reboot that same weekend.
If the aforementioned concepts are taken into effect the juicing recipes which follow will be perfectly crafted. The high vegetable content combined with the taste of fresh fruit will provide a fun and healthy way to shed pounds quickly.
Joe Cross was obese and sick with a crippling autoimmune disease. He chronicled his 100-pound total weight loss*, along with his 60-day juice fast, in his film “Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead.” He called his diet a “Reboot.”
While exercise and diet are essential to earning the figure you’ve always wanted, it’s hard to show off that smooth, toned waist-line if you’re carrying too much excess water! That’s why, when you’re searching for the best juice diet to lose weight, it’s often a good idea to include recipes that use “diuretics”.

Keep your juices focused on ingredients like broccoli, kale, cabbage, and other leafy green vegetables. Throw an apple into your garden in a cup to make it actually taste decent and you’ll be flushing toxins out of your system faster than gas prices rise before Memorial Day weekend.
Suki, you mean like doing a juice fast? Yes, you could, although it might get a little boring having the same juice over and over again! You might want to check out my Juice Feasting 101 eBook for more ideas!
Roeleen, welcome to JOJ! You can only have the juice that you make while on the fast. Now, you can get creative and make some fine soups out of your juices. Just heat them up and enjoy warm. But don’t have anything that doesn’t come out of your juicer. I’m here if you have any questions.
Simply put – this course really changed my life. I soon realized that it was much more than just a reading on the scale. This course changed my way of thinking. It is amazing what (the wrong) food does to me – how it dominates me and had me ‘under its power’ to be honest. I now feel at peace with myself and armed with a new set of tools for life in general. Everyone that sees me comments on the fact that I am looking much better, that the color has returned to my complexion. My hair has grown thick (and there is a lot of it!) I have realized that while there may be conditions that we are stuck with genetically, there are ways to control these and that it is not necessary to be a lab rat for medical doctors. I have an appointment with the specialist that manages one of my conditions and I know she will be very impressed with the progress that I have made. The best of all is that within me there have awoken goals and desires to help others with this new way of life. So, to everyone, thanks for all the questions, answers and advice and for your words of encouragement. I lost 9 lbs. and my husband who joined out of ‘sympathy’ lost 15 lbs. (he’s gone from skeptic to convert in 8 weeks!) I went out yesterday and bought myself the craziest, most colorful hand-dyed pair of pants I could find! All the best to each one of you – warm regards from South Africa, Cynthia.
Dolly, I’m glad to have been an inspiration to you. All of your concerns are good ones and ones that juicing will help you with. You’ll notice the energy will start to kick in towards the end of the first week. Your skin will also change during that time and your hair will be more healthy than it has been in a long time. Keep me posted on your progress throughout your fast Dolly. I’m always here if you need me. Cheers!
Stuart, I had very high blood pressure and was on medication before I started. My blood pressure was normalized within three days of the fast. Don’t stop taking your medicine though. You may want to schedule a check up with your doctor or monitor your pressure daily in intervals so you can get an idea of how your blood pressure is on and off the meds while you are juicing.
Fiber is good and it’s needed when you eat solids. The funny thing is that whenever you eat solids you are getting fiber. Juice is not digested and instead absorbed in to your body so fiber is not needed during a juice fast. Is fiber needed in your diet? Yes, and you still get all the soluble fibers when juicing, just not the insoluble fibers. You’ll get the insoluble fibers the minute you start eating solid food again. I hope this helps to clear up the idea that you can use a blender while juicing because you simply cannot. Cheers!

The ginger in the “Red Tangy Spice” blend will help to improve your digestion health, eliminate gas, and banish unwanted bloating. The spice will assist in breaking down and digesting fatty foods so that you can begin to lose weight faster!
And that’s because if you stick it out you’ll be handsomely rewarded. You’ll feel more energetic than you did when you were eleven. Your sense of taste and smell will be nearly overwhelming and all sort of things that ail you – asthma and irregularity for example – will likely improve.
Hi Donnie, your knowledge & support has helped me tremendously, I started juicing about a week & a half ago & I have lost roughly 15lbs I can’t tell how thankful I am for your help & support. Also I do have lots more energy than I’ve had in a long time, & absolutely love juicing for my health. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!!
Carmen, it’s okay to freeze your produce and thaw it out before juicing. I know a lot of things will spoil soon so this will be your best option if you can only shop at the beginning of the month. I wish you all the best! Let me know if you have any questions.
Everyone can lose weight by juicing! Since your body is taking in all the nutrients it needs to sustain itself, you start to force those nasty toxins out of your body. Since many of those toxins are stored in fat, you shed weight at a very fast pace.

By definition, being overweight means your liver is overworked. The liver is where fat is metabolized, but that job gets put on the back burner when it is overworked with more important tasks. So, for any weight loss plan to be successful, you also have to nourish your liver. You do that by 1.) removing toxins it has to process, such as that Sweet’N Low in your iced tea and that aspartame in your diet soda, and 2) eating nutrient dense food and lots of green leafy vegetables. Some of the foods you should eat are obvious, such as the cruciferous vegetables for liver health. Other things are less obvious, such as olive oil and nuts, both of which have more calories, but since many weight problems include an inability to digest fats, that makes up for fat cravings. By supplying your body with healthy fats, your probability of cheating on your diet goes down.
Watermelon spread north to the Mediterranean and Europe with early Moors. They were carried as far east as China, which is today the largest producer of watermelon. Some have posited that watermelons were introduced to the Southern US by African slaves, but they were discovered being cultivated from the northern to southern states by Native Americans as early as the 1500’s. There is some debate today as to whether watermelons are a fruit or a vegetable!
Juice requires hardly any digestion, so all its nutritional goodness gets rapidly into your system while simultaneously giving your digestive system a rest. Your body can then use that saved energy to clean out old matter, especially from the small intestine. The average person holds 5-10lbs of toxic old matter in their intestines, and Feasting is an ideal way to release it, giving the body a phenomenal chance to rejuvenate and restore. Far from being a time of ‘deprivation’, this extraordinary healing programme is an experience of abundance and massive nutritional intake…we lose weight, skin becomes radiantly healthy, illnesses are healed, scar tissue rejuvenates, and we detox our whole system on a massive scale. – Angela Stokes
All that sounds great and that’s what I will do. I am big into working out and eating right but just thought this would be great to get rid of all the bad toxins in my body. Also getting rid of some weight is always a plus :). I could lose 15 to be a my ideal weight, so I look forward to that as well!!
Liz, thanks for the comment. I have written an article dedicated strictly to how to eat after a juice fast. You can find it http://www.justonjuice.com/how-to-eat-after-a-fast/ Once you get off the fast, eating again is relatively easy!
