Drink lots of water and put vegetables into your juicer that are high in potassium like spinach and Swiss chard. Potassium and water create a powerhouse duo that work together to flush that sodium out of your body that has been keeping bloated.
Buy a variety of fruits and vegetables. Another essential ingredient to following a juicing diet is to have a variety of fruits and vegetables on hand. Purchasing both fresh and frozen items will give you more flexibility and variety with your juices.
First off..love this blog! It’s so informative! I was just diagnosed with PCOS and started medication that has caused me to break out terribly and just leaves me feeling bleh. I want to try juicing to cleanse and of course lose weight (what woman doesn’t want that)I don’t have a juicer and don’t want to break the bank (hello..college student) Is there a way to use a blender or even a magic bullet instead of buying a really expensive juicer and still get good cleansing/weight loss results?

My spouse and I are interested in losing weight, however since we’re juicing as a family and our teens don’t need to lose weight, we’ve only incorporated the juice for breakfast. As a family we are cutting back on junk food and late night snacking. In your experience, will small changes (one juice for breakfast and cutting back on junk food) like the ones we’ve made enough to see some weight loss?
So let me get this straight.. you’re saying people lose weight because they are juicing mostly fruits and veggies that don’t taste good? You’ve obviously never juiced and don’t know what you’re talking about. Weight loss occurs because you are flushing your body with a high amount of nutrition. This creates a system of low toxicity in your body and allows your body to release it’s toxins (stored in fat). The toxins leaving your body allow the nutrients to balance your system and give you the nutrition you’ve been lacking. Also, juices taste amazingly good and almost everyone who I have helped juice agrees.
Chocolate is a delicious way to include flavonoids and other antioxidants in your diet. Using raw organic cocoa powder is one of the best options, since it contains no added sugar. Nutrient and fiber-rich spinach is mild enough that its flavor doesn’t compete with the chocolate. This juice also includes blackberries, which provide fiber, anthocyanins, vitamin C, and a little sweetness, as well as avocado for creaminess, healthy fats, and antioxidant vitamin E.
Q: I go to the gym 4 times a week lately I started juicing on a daily basis- mainly vegetables. I noticed I began gaining weight a good bit. I thought juicing helped maintain or reduce weight. What’s wrong?
The Juice Snacker enjoys freshly squeezed juice with a meal or snack, and occasionally replaces a meal with only juice. This juicer simply likes juice or feels that fresh juice is a healthy addition to their diet on occasion.
Juicing is the process of extracting the juice from fresh fruits and vegetables. A small kitchen appliance known as a juicer is used to extract the juice, and these can range in price from $50-$500. Drinking the juice of fruits and vegetables means consuming their water and much of their vitamin and mineral content; however, the pulp, or fiber, which also has many health benefits, is removed. (Note: Some high-powered juicers do retain most of the pulp in the juice, thus resulting in a thicker juice.)
This is probably one of the prettiest juice blends I’ve ever seen. If you’re looking for a way to kick-start your metabolism and add something special to a get-together, then make a batch of these for your friends and family.
You can however use a blender to make smoothies and you’ll still get the detoxifying and nutritional benefits. You’ll go through detox and lose weight slower but it will still work depending on what your goals are. Just make sure you have a blend when you feel hungry and don’t over eat. Cheers!
It’s no doubt that you have probably heard about all of the health benefits of juicing, but did you know that juicing can also help you to lose weight? Having a juice elixir, in complement with an existing weight-loss plan, provides a high-level of quality nutrition, which will assist in weight loss.
The bottom line is that both the colon cleanse and the quality of water you chose will have a very minimal effect on the weight you lose and the health you gain while on your fast. Both are your choices to make LeeLee. I’m here if you have any questions.
I also started a juice fast recently (last Friday so this is Day 8 – down ll.4 lbs). Its going to be hard to find a juice that will keep you full longer since you cant really thicken up a juice too much. I would try adding some banana though. Also try to use more vegetables as I find the more veg loaded my juices are, the less I need to drink per day.
There are other notables as well – Neil Martin is another inspiring story that should encourage should encourage you to start living a healthier lifestyle right now. Poor lifestyle choices and eating habits almost cost him his life.
This is a powerful detox recipe, The main ingredient is celery, which is a little-known nutritional powerhouse. It is packed full with potassium, folic acid, magnesium, calcium, iron, phosphorus and essential amino acids and is a powerful alkalizer with its alkalizing properties thus regulating the body acidity.
I wanted to try juicing and now my husband and I have been doing it for the past 3 weeks off and on! It really does energize you! We have been missing so much all of these years, wished we started years ago! We do it for weight loss, like the mean and green one! They have so many recipes on line or the have alot of books that explain alot about it! We both love it! Our taste buds are changing and don’t like anything salty, so that must me a sign of cleansing toxins or just plain eating healthy!

Really, juicing is a fabulously fun, easy, and healthy way to shed those unwanted pounds without any struggle or deprivation. You have got nothing to lose by starting to make green juicing a regular part of your lifestyle. To get you started, here is a delicious and easy juice to kick-start your weight-loss:
Many juice cleanses limit your calories to less than 1,000 a day, putting you in a deficit. When this happens, your body begins using up your stored energy: First, it pulls from the short-term energy called glycogen (stored in your muscles and liver); then, after a day or so when all your glycogen is depleted, it turns to the longer-term energy sources — triglycerides from your fat cells and proteins in your muscles. Hence, some loss of fat, and some loss of muscle mass.
My results from my doctor were all I needed to motivate me to focus on the Reboot. I’d seen what it had done for Joe, and others, and I hoped it would help me too. At first I thought I would just try doing 3 days. I did get a few headaches and felt tired and hungry on those first few days, but it passed. Then I thought that I might as well go two more days and make it 5. Then 5 became 7, then 10, then 15, 20 and eventually 30 days. I did weekly video recordings of myself to document how I felt, and I could see the difference within just the first 10 days. It was pretty exciting! Of course I encountered people who were skeptical about what I was doing, but as the weight started to drop off, and I no longer felt tired or even terribly hungry, and my clothes became noticeably looser, people started to ask me how I was doing it, and I was able to inspire others to have a go at juicing too.
Carrots juice is great for weight loss as carrots are low in calories and full of fibre. A tall glass of carrot juice will keep you full until lunch, so you don’t have to worry about unwanted snack attacks. It had also been recommended that the best way to have carrots is in its raw form. Therefore, juicing it up could be a great idea. Carrot juice is also known increase bile secretion which helps in burning fat thus aiding weight loss. Add an apple, half an orange and some ginger to make a wonderful detox drink that will flush out all the toxins.
The rest of my reply to you disappeared, Nadia, so I’ll try again… You must be on about day 6 or so now, I hope you’re still going strong. Just a few more days, and you’ll have made it to an awesome 10 day reboot! Hang in there! Also, I just wanted to say that if you don’t have a thyroid issue, do include some cruciferous veggies from time to time, as they are super cancer preventing and fighting foods, really good for you. I shouldn’t, but do have them sometimes. I’m kind of addicted to broccoli sprouts in my salads, and even as a topping on a smoothie bowl at the moment. Don’t be afraid to chomp on some cut up raw veggies if you feel the need to chew on something. Good luck!
Melissa, you can make your juices in the morning and take them to work with you as long as you store them in an airtight container and keep them in the refrigerator. No solids while on your fast. You have to let your digestive system rest during your fast. I wish you the best of luck, let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks I’m almost 20 and have been about 30 lbs overweight almost all my big school career. Now that I have a actual career going I seem to go to fast food places more and now notice I’m gaining a lot. Just never sure how to loose it. But I pretty sure I can buckle down and start juicing.
I work 12 hour shifts 7a-7p at least three times a week. What would be the best way for me to do a juicing diet with my crazy hours. I read somewhere else that the juice should be dranked immediately after making it. My juicer is to big to take to work, do you know of any small portable juicers? Thanks in advance.
Lanie, congrats on your first day of juicing! The caffeine withdraw can be hard. Try have an occasional tea and see if it helps. As far as the psychological aspect of chewing I understand completely what you’re going through. Try some sugar free gum, after a juice. It used to help me get over the fact I wasn’t chewing something while taking in nutrients. Also, try some of the frozen juice recipes I have in the recipe section. Those are fantastic and all 100% juice!
Juicing recipes are a fun and healthy way to lose weight and increase overall vitality. There are several important factors to consider when both making juicing recipes of your own and using pre-made recipes. These factors are the type of juicer, timing, and combination.
