Saw the documentary “Fat, Sick,and Nearly Dead) and both Hubby and myself decided to try a 60 day fast. Our goal is wt loss (both have 50+ to lose), help hypertension, high cholesterol. We are on day 9 of our fast. Our b/p are both excellent. Hubby has lost 12 pounds and I have lost 6 pounds. He is drinking 5 (16ox drinks) and me 4 (16ozdrinks) per day plus water and one morning pure coconut juice. My question is that he continues to loose each day. I have stayed the same 3 days in a row and yesterday gained .8 pound. Am I doing something wrong? I have not had anything else but what is mentioned here. We have done about the same activity level. I was wondering since he is 6 ft 1 inch and I am 5 ft 1, should I be drinking less juice? We are drinking 80 % vegetable to 20% fruit. Thank you.

Stuart, I had very high blood pressure and was on medication before I started. My blood pressure was normalized within three days of the fast. Don’t stop taking your medicine though. You may want to schedule a check up with your doctor or monitor your pressure daily in intervals so you can get an idea of how your blood pressure is on and off the meds while you are juicing.

If an hour after you drink your juice you get hungry than eat a normal breakfast. Just give your body some time to digest the juice before you start to eat solid foods. You want your body to be able to easily absorb the nutrients from the juice. Adding solid food to your stomach will slow digestion down and absorption.

Leauphaun, if your intention is to lose weight and gain health with full juice fast then you can’t eat any solids. You have to let your digestive system take a rest. Juice is absorbed and not digested so when you throw any solid into the mix, you are activating your digestive system and taking yourself out of the fast. Exel, I’m sorry for the late response. While it’s okay to work out while juicing, it’s best to let your body rest and recover during the first few days of your fast. Get adjusted to the juice and then take your workouts slow. Don’t push yourself too hard and listen to your body. You’ll do great! Keep me posted!
